This was one of the most interesting jobs that I have worked on. The Wright Brothers were not the first to fly. Gustave Whitehead beat them by two years in1901. It happened in Fairfield, CT. We spent the day at the Connecticut Air and Space Center in Stratford where they built a replica of the Whitehead Flyer in 1986. The Whitehead Flyer replica flew 100 hundred yards, 20 feet off the ground proving that the original could fly with ease.
